Why Should Startups use Rush Printing Services in Santa Cruz?
hi everyone this is Scott from Closet ofMysteries and today I want to talk about screen printed posters.
What I think isreally cool about screen printed posters is that it is a way that I can offerartwork to people that I still hand-make but it's far more affordable than, youknow, getting a an original piece of art obviously.
So, what else is cool about itis that while a lot of reproductions are done basically by a computer where youjust hit, you know, command or control P depending if your Mac or PC and then aprinter just spits it out whereas printing something by handactually requires the use of a stencil such as this and squeegee so this is howthe process works basically I'll do it in short.
BLAP! Ink on there goes throughthe mesh and onto the paper or t-shirt if I'm doing a t-shirt.
So that makes ityou know it's a more manual process and I get to still be involved in that in away that I can't be if I'm doing, you know, just a regular print.
Not everythingobviously can be screen-printed.
For example, if I were to try andreproduce a painting like this, I would not choose to do that with a screenprint.
But a lot of other art work can be done that way if it's more linear orblocky kind of thing.
So I'll show you someexamples of some of the original artwork that I have.
For example, I'll start withthe Ganesh drawing that I did here which ended up as this poster here.
So you cansee it gets a lot of detail in there.
And I'll pull this off the wall and bring itup closer you can see how the detail translates.
Still captures quite alot of detail but is a reproduction.
So, anyway, this is a.
One of the things.
I really really dig these posters I think that they'rereally cool Here is my.
I did this alchemicalillustration and this one is a screen print.
Whereas this one here is actuallythe original and unless you got right up close you can't tell the differencereally at all, so that's pretty neat.
like, this one here is a screenprint obviously.
I don't have the original anymore because I sold it.
But Ireally like how this turned out.
The peyote with the rattlesnake.
And then ifyou if you run your finger across it, just a little bit, you can feel the inklike has just a slight bit of raise off the paper so I know that's one of theappeals of the screen print.
And then have the one my more popular designs ofmy shop is the "Magickal Grackle".
This was the original.
And this here is theoriginal mushroom portion of the "Buy the Ticket Take the Ride" poster andt-shirt design that I offer in my shop.
This is one of the more popular ones.
Andthen the end product I did the lettering on a separate drawing, but the endproduct came out like that.
So I think that these types of reproductions arereally cool and I feel still very much involved in the process because Ipersonally print these in my workshop.
I like to have things aspersonal as possible.
So that it's kind of the way that I can transmit myintention and energy that I had when I originally made the artwork continuingthat into the reproductions whether I'm doing a t-shirt orscreen-printed poster.
So I would like to give every one of you the opportunity toget your hands on a poster that I've designed for absolutely free! All youhave to do is go on over to win w-i-n dot closet of mysteries.

Watercolors, gouache, and poster colorshave a lot of similarities, but they're not exactly the same.
In this video we'll show you what the difference is between these water-soluble paints.
All of these paints are made with pigments, binders, and additives.
The differences between them come down to variations in their formulas.
Pigments are tiny pieces of stone and other raw materials that give paint its color.
These stay as physical particles and do not dissolve in water like dye.
Binders are what hold the paint together.
Many water-soluble panes use gum arabic.
Additives vary between manufacturers.
Some additives are necessary, but artists' quality paints usually have more pigment relative to additives than student paints.
Watercolors can come in dry pans or moist tubes.
They are made with very small pigment particles.
More of the paper shows between each particle, which makes watercolor paints look transparent.
Watercolor paints work best on sturdypaper designed to stand up to lots of water.
It's best to start with light colors and add dark colors later.
Techniques like lifting and scraping canbe used to lighten areas that are too dark, but they're not as effectivebecause the small pigments get stuck between the paper fibers.
Artists often use many layers of thin watercolor paints, known as washes and glazes, to achieve shadows and give paintings depth.
Gansai are Japanese watercolors and come in dry pans.
They have slightly bigger pigments than Western watercolors which makes them a little more opaque and easier to lift.
Gansai paints can be used similarly to western watercolors but they are designed to be applied as a single layer on absorbent Japanese washi paper rather than in multiple layers.
They tend to be more intensely pigmented than western watercolors, which makes them more vibrant.
Gansai can also have a glossy finish.
This is because they are made with different binders than gum arabic, like beeswax, syrup, or the traditional binder of animal glue.
Gouache is considered opaque watercolor, but some colors can be semi-transparent depending on how they are made.
Gouache is made with intense concentrations of large pigment particles.
Many gouaches use additives to make them more opaque, but the M.
Graham Gouache we are using does not.
It's best to use gouache with sturdy paper, and you can use it on colored paper as well.
Gouache produces a flat finish that is difficult to achieve with watercolor paint.
Its opacity gives you the flexibility to addlighter colors on top of dark paints, instead of only working light to dark.
Gouache can easily be used with watercolors or on its own.
It acts similarly to watercolors when diluted with water, and you can even mix white gouache with watercolor paint to make the watercolor more opaque and vibrant.
Poster color is a general term for water-soluble opaque paints that are meant to be scanned for reproduction rather than displayed.
They are usually less expensive and not very lightfast.
Poster colors' opacity comes from large, coarsely ground pigments and additives.
Unlike many other poster colors, theNicker Poster Colors we are using do list their lightfastness ratings.
Poster colors can be used a lot like gouache, both on white and toned paper.
As they are very opaque, it is easy to add highlights on top of dark colors.
Because some colors use multiple pigments, the paints can make muddy or desaturating colors when mixed.
They are very vibrant when used straight from the tube.
It's best to start with large blocks of colors, then add small details on top.
Poster colors lift easily, so new layers can mix with dry colors underneath.
Use thicker paint over previous layers to avoid this.
