It's an 8 1/2 by 11 PowerPoint that I need to be printed as a 36 by 48 poster.
Can you please help me out? Because I need to have this printed and be in my car and on the way to the conference in about 5 minutes.
Alright, so we can definitely do that for you.
Except first, we need you to resize your slide to the dimensions you want for your poster, and then save it as a PDF.
So while you do that, we’ll put you in line and you’re after two other people that are also printing posters for the same conference as you.
So, just so you know, it takes about 30 minutes to print a 36 by 48 size poster and we only have one printer.

For stress-free poster printing start with the right size document, have one dimension less than 41 inches, use high resolution images, proof-read your poster, bring your file to MERIT in PDF format, allow enough time to print, and have money on your Wiscard or printing account.
First, start with the right size document.
In Adobe products, such as Illustrator, you can set the width and height of your project when you start a new document.
To set the size of your slide in PowerPoint, go to File to Page Setup, and from there enter the width and height.
This is especially important in PowerPoint, because if you resize your slide after the fact, the different objects within your PowerPoint won't scale very well.
If you are given a department template with the wrong dimensions, resize your template in the beginning, or ask your department for a template with the right dimensions.
